Bidabooth was created by David Abbott & Zach Johnson while they were in school and found a niche market that needed a solution. This solution allows individuals to bid on booths in clubs near Dallas, Austin, and Houston.
This was a very large project with a lot of variations surrounding the user. There were two different portions of the application. The first was the customer facing experience, and the second was the "Venue". We started by putting together a survey that asked specific questions to help us better understand the problems that were being faced. I created a Trello board for organizing the different use cases that were provided by David, the Product Manager. We worked closely together for the first couple of weeks adding concrete inspiration & ideas so we could grasp what it was the user expected. Once we gathered a full list of submissions, we would then balance those answers against our current stories and begin to work out the journey of the user. The difficult part of this project was the lack of a budget to reach the audience we needed to in a short amount of time. We used the data from Survey Monkey to help us make initial decisions. This allowed us to come up with concrete flows and wires that would become the foundation of the project.
Once we had settled on a concrete plan, I began to build a brand around our findings. I wanted to form something simple, that would be easy to view in all formats. I went with tables and chairs to form a "Booth". The gradient styling advocates for a modern aesthetic that can follow all the way through both applications. These styling cues were tested against WCAG Guidelines. Further, we found that the colors used were a softer tone that would not strain eyes while using at night, but still highly visible during the day. Once the design system had all of the necessary components structured, I was able to easily pull together the screens forming a flow that reflected our research during the "Discovery" phase. All of these components were tracked within Sketch/Abstract.
