Triage offers incident responders the analytics and visibility into email-based attacks occurring against their organizations in near real-time. This project was extremely technical and involved a lot of upfront understanding/research.
When I started at Cofense (PhishMe at the time) I was placed as Lead Designer in charge of their incident response product, Triage. This was a great opportunity as we were beginning to form our teams and come up with a plan for seamless delivery. Having worked in Agile teams in the past, I presented some ways to improve our time to delivery of a feature using a simple workflow in Jira. Research, grooming, and validation upfront were essential before moving into the "Delivery" phase of design. These methods allowed the team to move from ideation to delivery at a faster rate, which in turn gave us ample opportunity to test these validations with users. Our team conducted over 60 usability sessions against our main prototype throughout the time I was there. These sessions would later form the future of Triage.
When our team started to put together the initial design comps, we were testing against various design stacks. We ended up with a form of Material design because, at the time, Material was ahead of the curve and offered a tremendous amount of resources. We were not using Sketch or Abstract at the time, due to the organization's budget. So we were able to track our library within Axure. I know what you are thinking "How in the...?" But it was actually easier than you might think. Axure offers an incredible engine that updates it's library elements similar to symbols in Sketch. It also offers team collaboration on documents with "version control" so we were able to work closely on changes made to the design system. The team worked with Developers closely as it tracked the CSS in Axshare's inspection tool and offered easy sharability within Jira. Product management liked it because they were able to test the "production" prototype with customers on a daily basis for immediate feedback.
